Our mission

Verified seller intelligence for buyers who've been burned by bad data before.

Founded 2024. Headquartered in Kingston, Herefordshire. Built by two practitioners who got burned by bad Amazon data before they built the fix.

Global Amazon seller coverage network: world map with connected seller nodes, profile cards, shopping cart, and shield verification icon — representing The Sellers Index tracking 67,416 storefronts across 6 marketplaces

01 · Who we serve

The data problem no one else was fixing

The Amazon seller data market has a structural gap: cheap scraped lists deliver 30–40% bounce rates and no company registration context. Bespoke research costs £3–10 per lead and takes weeks. Neither option works for agencies and service businesses that need verified, current data at volume.

The Sellers Index was founded in 2024 to occupy the space between those two failure modes — systematic verification at £1.25–£5.00 per lead, with four fields no scraped provider can offer: VAT number, base country, active marketplaces, and a seller business summary sourced from national registries.

Amazon service agencies — PPC, listing optimisation, account management
VAT and EPR compliance firms targeting cross-border sellers
Brand aggregators and acquisition funds running due diligence
SaaS providers building targeted seller prospect lists
3PL operators seeking multi-marketplace clients

02 · How we verify

Our verification methodology

Every record passes through four mandatory checkpoints. Fail any one — suppressed, not flagged. We do not ship partially verified data.

  1. Company registry cross-check

Every record is verified against Companies House (UK), Handelsregister (Germany), and INSEE SIRENE (France). Records without a traceable business registration are suppressed before delivery.

  2. Real-time VAT validation

VAT numbers are validated in real time via the EU VIES system at the point of enrichment. This is the data compliance buyers require — and the field scraped providers cannot produce.

  3. Multi-step SMTP handshake

Every email address undergoes a live SMTP handshake to confirm the mailbox exists and accepts mail before inclusion. Not a format check. Not a domain ping. A full deliverability test, repeated at every 30-day re-verification cycle.

  4. Rolling 30-day refresh cycle

No record older than 30 days reaches a delivered dataset. Every record in the verified seller database is re-verified on a rolling cycle — not batch-refreshed annually. Sellers change status. Storefronts close. We track it.

  5. Enrichment to 11 fields (FI-11 schema)

Verified records are enriched to 11 fields: seller ID, trading name, legal name, base country, active marketplaces, VAT number, verified email, domain, business summary, product categories, and seller summary. Our Full Intelligence tier adds tech stack, traffic indicators, and revenue estimates.

  6. GDPR operation under Article 6(1)(f)

We operate under GDPR legitimate interests for B2B data. All records relate to registered business entities, not private individuals. The business is ICO registered in the United Kingdom. Any seller may request removal via [email protected] — processed within 72 hours. See our GDPR compliance framework.

03 · Verified vs scraped

Why it matters that we verify

You've bought seller lists before. You know the pattern.

Forty percent bounce. Half the storefronts closed. The emails are generic info@ addresses that go nowhere. The data is six months old, recycled from the same sources everyone else uses.

According to Marketplace Pulse, Amazon's seller base is in constant flux — a scraper with no SMTP or registry checks contains 30–40% stale contacts by delivery. Your SDRs are paying for that with their time.

The Sellers Index occupies the middle ground: systematic verification at £1.25–£5.00 per lead. Verified VAT numbers. Confirmed emails. Base-country flags. Data that compliance buyers require — sourced from registries, not Amazon storefronts.

05 · The founders

Built by data people who got tired of bad lists

Mark Ritson, co-founder of The Sellers Index, United Kingdom

Mark Ritson

Twenty years in UK ecommerce and brand building — from high-street retail to Amazon FBA. When I tried to source reliable B2B seller data for our own outreach, the process was baffling. Poor quality scraped lists, high bounce rates, and nobody providing the actual intelligence needed to close deals.

That's why The Sellers Index exists.

Based in Tallinn — inside the EU. A decade navigating ecommerce, B2B data intelligence, and marketplace dynamics while running my own brands across European markets. When Mark and I met, the idea was obvious: turn our combined knowledge into a verified data platform that actually works for B2B outreach.

One platform. Verified intelligence. Handled properly.

Frequently asked questions

Who runs The Sellers Index?

About the Sellers Index team: co-founded in 2024 by Mark (UK, ecommerce and Amazon FBA background) and Kristoph (B2B data intelligence and European marketplace dynamics). Registered at 61 Bridge Street, Kingston, Herefordshire, HR5 3DJ.

How does The Sellers Index verify Amazon seller data?

Each record passes through four stages: company registry check (Companies House, Handelsregister, INSEE SIRENE), VIES VAT validation, SMTP deliverability testing, and a rolling 30-day re-verification cycle. Records that fail any stage are suppressed rather than flagged for manual review.

What coverage does The Sellers Index provide?

The Sellers Index covers Amazon UK, USA, Germany, France, Spain, and Italy — 6 marketplaces in total. Each record includes up to 11 enriched fields: verified email, VAT number, base country, active marketplaces, and seller summary. Coverage also includes cross-border sellers from outside their primary market.

How often is the data refreshed?

Every record is re-verified on a rolling 30-day cycle. Because email deliverability is retested at each refresh, no record older than 30 days is delivered. The 30-day freshness guarantee is contractual.

What makes The Sellers Index different from scraped data?

Scraped lists contain no registry verification, no VAT validation, and no SMTP testing. The Sellers Index runs all three before delivery, producing verified VAT numbers and base-country flags that compliance buyers require — data that scraped lists cannot produce.
